Derik Leavitt started working for the State of Arizona in 2001. He began in the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budget(OSPB) and was there until 2004. He then became the Director of Fiscal Management Services for the Department of Juvenile Corrections and served until 2008. From 2008 to 2011, Derik was the Budget and Finance Administrator for the Division of Developmental Disabilities within the Department of Economic Security. He then spent five years working in the private sector as a health policy consultant with Burns & Associates. Derik's experience in both public and private sectors have afforded him an appreciation of utilizing data in daily operations to transform performance. He believes that great information is the foundation for great decisions.
Prior to coming to Arizona, he worked in city and county governments in the States of Washington and Utah. He received his Master's Degree in Public Administration from Brigham Young University. He calls Avondale home with his wife Debbie and their four children.
