The State Risk Management Office provides statewide (including the three universities) management responsibilities for the following programs: Property, liability and workers’ compensation claims management, loss prevention, environmental remediation, excess insurance, and risk financing. The Property and Liability Claims / Insurance Section (602-542-2180) is responsible for the investigation and settlement of all insurance claims related to state property and liability issues. The section also manages and defends lawsuits against the state with the assistance of the Attorney General’s Office and recovers moneys from third parties responsible for loss or damage to state property. The section also purchases insurance policies that provide excess coverage and provides agency assistance regarding insurance and indemnification issues.
The Workers’ Compensation Section (602-542-5218) is responsible for investigation and management of all workers’ compensation claims filed by State employees. The Workers’ Compensation section manages the return to work and modified duty programs for the State and provides assistance to state employees in receiving quality medical care for injuries sustained on the job.
The Loss Prevention Section (602-542-2175) is primarily responsible for working with State agencies to reduce the frequency and cost of losses. Risk Management Loss Prevention Consultants provide advice and assistance in a variety of areas, including exposure analysis, environmental assessments and industrial hygiene concerns.
The Administration Section (602-542-1492) provides personnel, payroll, benefits, and purchasing services to all sections of Risk Management.
